Job Summary
The Department of Recreational Services is seeking a student to assist with content creation for various social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok & Facebook) for the summer of 2025. Reporting to the Marketing Coordinator, the Communications Assistant will maintain regular office hours at the Recreation Center to plan, edit and schedule content, while also need some availability for attending evening programs. Options to pursue marketing or event planning related projects based on individual strengths, preferences, and interests. This position is slated to begin in early May.
Responsibilities*
- Create original content for Rec Services, following department social media strategy and U-M branding
- Work collaboratively with other staff to plan and attend promotion efforts for all areas of Rec Services (club sports, esports, fitness, intramural sports, and the Recreation Center)
- Support marketing and communication plans for Rec Services promotions with basic videography and photography skills
- Engage with students and visitors at tabling events to assist them with becoming familiar with Rec Services offerings and wellbeing resources
- Perform clerical duties and other assigned tasks
Required Qualifications*
- Enrolled student at UM-Flint
- Available to work up to 5 hours per week summer 2025 only
- Demonstrated proficiency in social media platform usage (personal or business)
- Outstanding organizational skills, with ability to focus on details
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) and work independently
Desired Qualifications*
- Desire to enter communications, marketing or other related field upon degree completion
- Skilled in basic graphic design, or willingness to learn
