HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY
The multi-disciplinary Pre-Developments & Planning team, located in our Houston office, is an integral part of the Global Exploration group. This team is responsible for the economic and developmental analysis of all offshore exploration and appraisal projects in the pre-development phase. They report their findings to senior leadership and integrate these projects into current and future annual plans and budgets. The work encompasses pre- and post-drill assessments, partner alignment, and the creation of economic and technical planning scenarios.
We are seeking a Project Advisor to optimize the value of Hess' business interests within our current portfolio and to support sound business decisions for future endeavors. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing offshore concept options (including Facilities, Wells, SURF, Production to Sales) and front-end economic analyses using analogs to benchmark new development and project opportunities across all active offshore exploration theaters. The individual will report to the Director of Pre-Developments & Planning.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute evaluations for any identified opportunities
- Support development and implementation of both Operated and non-Operated Developments strategy for Hess in a key frontier deep water regions
- Execute evaluations of given projects while working closely with Exploration G&G teams, drilling engineers, commercial, reservoir engineers, economists, etc.
- Provide CAPEX/OPEX estimates and schedules covering the period from drilling exploration wells to first production
- Develop economics using fit-for-purpose, standardized comparisons to enable high-quality comparisons and decisions
- Support key stakeholders in providing integrated development plans and technical work to underpin business decisions
- Assist in preparing decision support packages required for funding/sanctioning of exploration/appraisal drilling, development, and evaluation opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience working in the oil and gas industry. Preference given to individual with conceptual engineering and integrated offshore project management experience in deep-water.
- Functional knowledge of reservoir management, topsides design, substructure design, subsea system design, cost estimation, schedule planning, and operation principles and their relation to practical development planning.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Confident in representing the team and the company at internal and external technical and operational meetings.
- Positive attitude and proactive team worker. Capable of problem-solving and consistently seeking efficient solutions to complex issues.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and in a highly-collaborative, multi-cultural team environment. Able to meet tight deadlines and adept at multi-tasking.
- Logical and analytical problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a focus on potential process improvements.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or related field required
