Full Job Description
The Office of Tax Analysis (OTA) anticipates multiple staff openings in 2024 for new or experienced economists who will conduct applied research, modeling, and analysis to assess the economic and revenue effects of current and proposed Federal tax policies. OTA is responsible for official Administration estimates of all Federal receipts. OTA staff work with an experienced staff of tax attorneys to design legislative proposals, to implement current tax law, and to formulate and review tax regulations. OTA staff also engage in discussions with other agencies and participate in meetings of international organizations.

OTA is seeking economists with a strong interest in shaping Federal tax policy with a particular focus in the areas of health policy, environmental policy, and tax treatment of passthrough businesses. OTA staff also cover numerous domestic and international policy areas including business formation, choice of business organizational form, tax accounting, savings and investment, pensions, Social Security, financial institutions and products, labor, health, housing, the environment, energy, and international trade and investment flows. Staff members are encouraged to publish and present their tax policy research findings in professional journals and in academic and professional settings.
