Job Description Summary

The Financial Data Engineer Intern will assist with the integration of asset, derivative and liability models to provide valuation, forecasts, and strategy projections for business lines. They will assist with the automation of existing processes and introduce new methods to improve forecasts and increase first turn quality of results.
Responsibilities:
- Code using Python and/or SQL.
- Optimize business performance by enhancing the alignment between business processes and IT, building and sustaining a process-managed Asset and Liability Management (ALM) organization.
- Focus on the human, organizational and value stream aspects of business processes and their transformation.
- Collect and analyze process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on improved analytics, increased productivity and reduced cost.
- Implement automated processes for all aspects of ALM, including investment analytics, trade processing and hedge design.
- Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes and develop sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements.
- Collaborates with IT, Finance, Actuarial and other areas throughout the firm to ensure that ALM processes are compatible with firm objectives and technology environment.
- Determine how new information technologies can support reengineering business processes.
- Help to reengineer legacy processes without disrupting business as usual.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Quantitative Finance, Financial Modeling, or a similar program.
- Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
- Excellent working knowledge of database/data warehouse programming in Python and/or SQL.
- Some knowledge of finance modeling.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in process engineering, accounting, financial technology, or quality control
- Derivative knowledge and basic experience of data processing in Microsoft Power BI a plus.
- Decent technical writing skills.

Compensation:
**Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to applicable pay transparency and compensation posting laws. It is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.**
The salary for this position generally ranges between $22-$24 an hour for undergraduate students and up to $30 an hour for graduate students. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Working Environment & Program Dates:
- Hybrid of fully remote work environment.
- Candidates must be able to work ~ 40 hours/week during the 12 week summer internship program (mid-May to mid-August).
