The Director of Brand Strategy will be responsible for shaping and evolving the brand identity and creative vision. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on creative leadership to ensure every touchpoint-digital, physical, and experiential-communicates the brand's purpose and resonates deeply with their audience while identifying strategic ways to measure success of creative strategies.
This position operates cross-functionally, engaging with the Product, Content, and Creative Design teams, and will report directly to the SVP of Marketing.
Responsibilities:
Creative Strategy & Vision
- Define and drive the creative vision to elevate brand storytelling and emotional resonance.
- Develop and execute creative concepts across campaigns, ensuring alignment with business goals and brand values.
- Lead the creation of cohesive brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across visual, verbal, and experiential elements.
- Champion brand's mission to reimagine the fit of basics to empower customers to unleash their confidence
Content Creation & Oversight
- Oversee the production of high-quality creative assets, including social media content, videos, advertisements, and product packaging.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to design performance-driven campaigns that also enhance brand equity.
- Lead the ideation and execution of innovative brand initiatives, from viral digital campaigns to experiential marketing activations.
- Mentor and manage the in-house creative team and external agency partners, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Brand Development
- Partner with the marketing, web, product, and data teams to ensure that customer insights inform creative direction.
- Drive strategies to increase brand's share of voice and visibility in the apparel space through thought-provoking campaigns that build emotional connections with customers and prospects.
Analytical Evaluation of Success
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for creative campaigns, such as engagement rates, brand lift, and conversion metrics.
- Use data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights, and campaign tracking software) to measure campaign performance and impact.
- Conduct A/B testing to optimize creative strategies and identify what resonates most with the target audience.
- Analyze customer feedback and audience behavior to refine messaging and creative direction.
- Prepare performance reports with actionable insights to inform future creative and brand strategies.
- Balance creativity with business outcomes by using data to support decision-making and measure return on investment (ROI) of creative initiatives.
Requirements:
- Must be based in the San Diego or New York market and open to working onsite in a hybrid capacity
- 5+ years of creative leadership experience; 7+ years of marketing and/or brand strategy experience, ideally in the startup space
- 5+ years' experience managing teams
- Analytical mindset to interpret performance data and inform strategy adjustments.
- A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for building an early-stage brand.
- Visionary mindset: A proven track record of shaping and scaling brand identities in high-growth environments.
- Storytelling expertise: Mastery of crafting narratives that engage and inspire across digital, social, and traditional channels.
- Design sensibility: Strong aesthetic judgment and familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
- Strategic thinker: Ability to balance big-picture vision with data-driven decision-making.
- Project Management: An ability to translate a vision for a campaign into a detailed roadmap, including overseeing robust execution
