About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

The Derivatives Operations Analyst (Analyst) will be responsible for supporting the collateral and margin processes for Futures, Listed Options, Cleared OTC, MSFTA, and Bilateral products across the post-execution lifecycle. This will include the reconciliation and instruction of daily margin requirements, processing of accounting postings, and post-value control reconciliations. The Analyst will work closely with our brokers, vendors, service providers, client relationship teams, trading, and technology to ensure timely trade capture in multiple internal systems, processing of lifecycle events, responding to client inquiries, and troubleshooting critical issues. Due to the complexity and manual nature of some functions, the Analyst will continually look for opportunities to create efficiencies through workflow enhancements and technology for the processing, reporting and reconciliation of derivatives. They will be involved in various projects by performing user acceptance testing and assisting with other implementation tasks. While the Analyst will work in a team-oriented environment, many projects will be self-directed, often under intense deadline pressures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily review of margin calls from brokers and investigation of discrepancies

  • Daily post-value cash reconciliations of collateral and margin movements

  • Daily control reconciliations including holdings, collateral, and currency balances between our internal accounting, clearing brokers, custodians, and clearing houses

  • Effectively participate in the management of our broker relationships

  • Serve as an escalation point for incoming queries and issues raised by clients, custodians, accounting agents, brokers, portfolio managers, trading, and other internal stakeholders

  • Serve as a resource for internal teams handling derivative-related queries and audit requests from clients and their agents

  • Continuously identify opportunities for front-to-back efficiency and control process improvements and assist in implementing necessary changes

  • Participate in industry working groups to identify new clearing opportunities and potential challenges of regulatory changes

  • Be a steward of risk and control frameworks, always keeping work quality and accuracy in mind

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with back and/or middle office operations with exposure to both Cleared and Bilateral Derivatives

  • Direct margin and collateral management experience a plus

  • Highly motivated with strong communications skills, high attention to detail, and a problem-solving/analytical mindset

  • Track record of driving process improvements

  • Must be both team-oriented and a strong independent contributor

  • Experience working in a global team setting a plus

  • Have an undergraduate degree and strong academic record

  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience is preferred

  • Technical proficiency, such as Excel (macros, etc.) Python, and SQL preferred
