Job Summary

The Michigan Medicine Transformation Office works to connect engineering and medicine to improve processes both in Michigan Medicine and in healthcare systems across the nation. We are looking for a Business Process Consultant intermediate to serve on our team.

What You'll Do

  • Manage multiple interdisciplinary high-impact projects. Facilitate project scoping, develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, and work to implement lasting process improvements.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Transformation Officer, support high-level strategy development for the Transformation Office.
  • Gather and translate complex information (e.g., analytics, process maps, requirements, specifications, user needs) for non-specialists to use in decision-making.
  • Serve as a member of cross-functional project teams beyond the Transformation Office, providing expertise to support execution of projects.
  • Serve as a technical expert and contributor on advanced engineering, simulation, and data science topics.
  • Support data extraction and visualization efforts for projects in the Transformation Office and the Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety (CHEPS).

Required Qualifications*

  • Advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or similar.
  • An understanding of the value of diversity and the importance of inclusion expressed through a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and leading process improvement efforts 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

This is a 2-year term-limited appointment.  At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits.  This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
