JOB DEFINITION:

The On-Call/After-Hours Assistant Manager will provide administrative support to the On-Call/After Hours Manager, directly supervise a team of After-Hours Supervisors, and provide additional daytime, swing, and backup support for After Hours phone coverage. Additionally, the OCAHAM will, under the direction of the OC/AH Manager, oversee and develop an after-hours response infrastructure to support staff and improve client services delivery.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise a team of After-Hours Supervisors
  • Assist On-Call & After-Hours Manager with supervisory tasks for a team of On-Call employees
  • Assist On-Call & After-Hours Manager with Administrative tasks as assigned
  • Provide consultation to staff on issues related to tenants, facilities, or extraordinary occurrences by acting as Housing After Hours Support during regular shift and occasionally as backup, to ensure smooth information sharing and follow up
  • Under the direction of the OC/AH Manager, oversee and develop an after-hours response infrastructure to support staff and improve client services delivery
  • Develop and implement systems to train and support After Hours Supervisors, train and support On-Calls, and improve and track after-hours support for staff and clients
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, orienting, and supervising new On-Call staff for the Housing Program, and work closely with After Hours Supervisors and the On-call/After Hours Manager to develop and implement an On-Call on-boarding protocol
  • Serve as back-up point of contact with all Housing projects, to ensure adequate staffing is in place
  • Communicate regularly with each Project Manager (or designee) to ensure adequate coverage of staff PTO requests and to fill last minute vacancies
  • Assist in coordinating a centralized response to scheduling gaps across programs, including management of bonus shifts pay, redeployment pay and other processes as needed
  • Assist in maintaining web-based schedules for all Housing & Entry Services Programs
  • Serve as back-up W2W point of contact for managers and supervisors. Conduct trainings for Housing & Shelter department on W2W regularly or as needed
  • Participate in Housing Meetings as assigned
  • Assist in tracking Housing & Shelter Minimums for Labor Management Committee
  • Occasionally flex schedule to cover for AHSs when they are on PTO
  • Occasional evening/weekend Hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six or more months of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to perform all essential job duties of DESC RC/SC roles.
  • Strong grasp of DESC policies and procedures and ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent general-purpose computer knowledge and computer skills. Comfort working in open-source applications and/or ability to learn new computer skills.
  • Initiative and creativity in problem-solving in an ever-evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Subscribe to philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs and of consideration and respect for clients.
  • Interest and passion for working with large number of employees with wide range of skills and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least six months as an AHS or RCS
  • One or more years in an entry services role in DESC PSH or shelter settings
  • Ability to drive personal or agency vehicle, valid Washington State driver's license, and insurable driving record
